RIGID ROOM

In RIGID ROOM you found yourself immersed in a landscape of language, symbols and objects.

The exhibition space became a stage wherein happenings, poetic actions and gestures happened and became part of the narrative of the space.

Through the use of handheld sculptures the scene could be altered and narratives was built and juxtaposed. In it’s shifting dynamic Rigid Room put emphasis on experimenting and experiencing. Through delegated agency it asked the specator to become part of the image, and thus trusted the situation’s capability for transformation and performance’s ways of care by it’s structures of movement, postulation and chance.

In an extened two-week programme the space hosted staged reading, performances, workshops and screenings.

RIGID ROOM was staged in February 2022 at KHM2 at Konsthögskolan i Malmö

“Right” said the horse, “or was it left? The road keeps running further every day. At the beginning I saw the horizon, and was afraid I might never reach it. I kept running and running, soon I was relieved that the line was still so far ahead, I didn’t have to make up my mind just yet. But in that action is the distance; the final room I will always be on the verge to run into. So which way must I turn, now is this direction the  -”

The snake in the sky saw with their eyes a silly little horse running and running and realized that nothing was wrong and nothing could fly, but the running the running, the silly little lie, the cards must be dealt and played and why do we have to try before the lasso arrives and ties us down to words and names and plans and sand. (echoes)

Sand on the ground whirling up, a dusty material so free falling between my hands, here the end of all rules and logic lie, seeping through my hands like dust and truth whirling with the wind towards the sky.

Final performance 19th of February 1500-1?00

In Rigid Room you find yourself immersed in a landscape of language, symbols and objects.  The exhibition space becomes a stage wherein potential happenings, poetic actions and gestures can fall out and where you, yes you, may have to help alter the process.

Through the use of handheld sculptures the scene can be altered, narratives can be built and juxtaposed. In it’s shifting dynamic Rigid Room puts emphasis on flux, meetings, experimenting and experiencing. Through delegated agency it trusts the situation’s capability for transformation and performance’s ways of care by it’s structures of movement, postulation and chance.

Opening on the 4th of February with readings, music and the making and serving of a lemonade, the show will be persistently hosted by Niels Munk Plum, but also created through inviting in guests, opening the space up and giving autonomy to visitors and co-performers, the showing period will be a process open for the public's interference constantly changing the space, both visually but also within it’s imbedded rules.

All the actions will culminate in the final performance which will happen on the 19th of February.

Due to the pandemic the space will be available to a limited amount of people at the time.
